About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Contemporary Research in Disability and Rehabilitation (CRDR), is a peer-reviewed open access journal, published electronically on a quarterly basis by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. This journal is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by publishing innovative qualitative and quantitative empirical research germane to disability, rehabilitation counseling, allied health, and other disability-related fields. In addition to original empirical research, the CRDR publishes conceptual manuscripts, position papers, comprehensive literature reviews, intensive case studies, and research critiques. More extensive special topical issues will also be considered for publication.

Peer Review Process

Once an article has been submitted, the Editor will conduct a brief review to determine the manuscript's appropriateness for CRDR. This review will occur within 14 days of the initial submission date. If deemed appropriate, the manuscript will be assigned to three external reviewers, who will each independently conduct a blind review. The reviewer --considered national and international researchers and educators in disability, rehabilitation, and allied health-related fields--will perform rigorous review and recommend suggestions as needed. In all, the review process takes about 2 to 3 months depending on reviewers' recommendations. The Editor will make the final publication decision.
